Celebrate the power of voices in this concert featuring renowned baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, soprano Morgan England-Jones, and The Australian Voices with Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Be swept away by Stravinsky’s recently rediscovered score of the processional Funeral Song and Britten’s Four Sea Interludes. Then, be uplifted by Whitacre’s cinematic Cloudburst, where an eight part choir, piano and percussion channel a terrifying thunderstorm, before Fauré’s sublime Requiem entices listeners into a beautiful ethereal sanctuary. By comparison with the choral blockbusters of Verdi, Brahms and Berlioz, Fauré’s setting is gentle.
