St Laurence’s College opened its doors to the community for the annual Twilight Open Day on Thursday 28 February, welcoming approximately 2500 attendees to its South Brisbane campus.
The College grounds and classrooms were filled with young boys and their families, excited to learn more about everything Lauries has to offer. College Principal Chris Leadbetter said, “It is wonderful to have so many families join us to learn what we offer at St Laurence’s College. I thank our outstanding student tour guides who have made each family feel welcome, as well our College staff who show great pride in their work”.
Students led guided tours around the campus, sharing pieces of College history and what day to day life is like as a Lauries student. Families were also given the opportunity to speak to teaching and support staff, view academic and creative displays of student work, enjoy interactive activities and musical performances. A special welcome presentation and information session, led by Mr Leadbetter and Head of Primary Mr Cameron Wigan, provided parents with an insight into the College ethos, learning framework and enrolment information.
Future parent, Eva K said her Open Day experience could not be topped. “From being welcomed by the violins to the very positive speeches in the ERPAC, the impeccably mannered young men throughout the college offering assistance and directions, the very pleasant and informative guided tour and delicious burgers! My son made a point of telling me he cannot wait to start next year!”
