We spoke to Charles Martin, General Manager at Emporium Hotel South Bank, about his favourite West End hotspots, and what he wished more people knew about the hotel.
Best thing about living or working in the 4101?
It is phenomenal to be this side of the river with institutions like QAGOMA and QPAC. I love to run and keep fit and South Bank is the perfect escape from the office.
Favourite place for breakfast in the area?
The Terrace on level 21 of Emporium Hotel South Bank. I cannot walk past the omelette station without ordering one, and the best views of Brisbane get me every time!
The best coffee can be found at …
Belle Époque on the corner of Grey and Tribune Street. This French-style patisserie serves Vittoria coffee and offers an array of Alex Liddle’s famous delectable pastries. Say no more.
This autumn, I will be doing more of …
Travelling! This year, I plan to spend more weekends exploring Australia (particularly Queensland) and discovering the latest developments in bars, restaurants, hotels and tourism offerings.
On Friday after work, you will find me …
There is no such thing as “after work” on a Friday! You’ll find me having a drink with regular hotel guests and having a late dinner with my family (we get in to trouble if we miss it!). It is the perfect end to the week.
What I wish more people knew about Emporium Hotel is …
From the moment you arrive at the hotel, our Concierge are ready to make this the perfect staycation for you. My team loves to be challenged, all you must do is ask!
