Internationally acclaimed chamber ensemble, Southern Cross Soloists, are pleased to present a new concert series — from October 25 to December 12, with nine outstanding emerging musicians promised to delight Brisbane residents with a superb classical music program.
Part of the Southern Cross Soloists’ Next Gen Artists program, the musicians consist of the Sunrise String Quartet, Islay Piano Trio, and Undine Flute Duo, with each ensemble providing fresh, energetic interpretations of repertoire ranging from the Baroque period to contemporary Australian works.
According to Jonathan Henderson, mentor to the Next Gen Artists and a Southern Cross Soloists’ musician, the three programs that make up the concert series are an opportunity for Brisbane audiences to see these emerging artists perform live before they become prominent musicians on the international classical music stage. “The SXS Next Gen Artists is a platform for young emerging musicians, many of whom will go on to establish orchestral, chamber, and soloist careers both in Australia and abroad,” Jonathan said.
“After playing an impressive concert at this year’s Bangalow Music Festival in August, the Next Gen Artists’ talent will again be showcased in a new concert series, which takes place in a new auditorium at Churches of Christ in Kenmore — who have been kind enough to allow us to use their venue,” Jonathon said. “The Southern Cross Soloists want to provide communities outside of metro areas more regular chamber music experiences, and this is an excellent opportunity for the Next Gen Artists to gain exposure and produce a concert that everyone can afford to attend.”
