In what has been described as a “terrific concert and remarkable choice” performance, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra took the stage with Cathedral of Sound at the QPAC Concert Hall on Saturday 11 May. Under the baton of conductor, Johannes Fritzsch, the orchestra performed the classic pieces of Mozart Piano Concerto No 23 in A, K488 and Bruckner Symphony No 7. Eloquently mournful, the Adagio was a moving elegy to Wagner then peeling brass and eddying strings drew the work to a close. Piano soloist, the much loved Piers Lane was outstanding, and warmly welcomed to what many feel is his home Concert Hall. The capacity crowd loved every moment with a standing ovation.
