Popular “paint and sip” studio Cork & Chroma has recently opened a semi-permanent location on South Bank’s Little Stanley Street.

Young Brisbane couple Hillary and BJ Wall first opened their flagship studio in Brisbane in 2013, with the business expanding to both Sydney and Melbourne soon after. The concept of Cork & Chroma is simple; guests bring along their favourite bottle of wine to an art session where they learn to paint with a trained artist. Hillary and BJ want to share their passion for art and encourage fellow Australians to express themselves through their artistic avenue of choice. “We believe everyone is born creative and that we show this in different ways,” explains Hillary. “We aim for guests to have fun, connect with their friends and love seeing their joy in getting their hands dirty and being able to release some of their creative energy.”

The couple are slowly spreading their passion across Australia, with new sessions, artworks, permanent and pop-up studios being developed to address the demand of their unique business. The new semi-permanent pop-up studio on South Bank showcases their signature sessions as well as special events and new offerings including Drinky Drawy and Family Paint sessions for kids during the school holidays.

Hillary and BJ were approached by South Bank Corporation to occupy the space on Little Stanley Street, which they were more than happy to do. “We were excited to be recognised by South Bank Corporation and have the opportunity to transform such a fantastic space offering the people of Brisbane more sessions to paint, sip and enjoy a creative experience,” says Hillary. “We are constantly trying to add new ways for people to get involved with Cork & Chroma and simply want to give them the tools to express themselves.”
