Eileen Ormsby is coming to Brisbane on Monday 26 March to talk about her latest book The Darkest Web at the Avid Reader Bookshop, and will include a meet and greet with the author.

Eileen Ormsby is a lawyer, author and freelance journalist based in Melbourne, with her field of expertise exploring the unknown underlying world wide web – aka the dark web.

The dark web is a parallel internet accessible only by a select few. It mainly serves as a black market for the sales of weapons, drugs, stolen goods, and for other far more darker items.

This sector holds forums and websites offering illicit services or discussing highly illegal matters, however none of these scare author Eileen who is a true investigator of the matter.

After publishing her first book Silk Road, which was one of the world’s first in-depth exposes of black market that operate on the dark web, she continued to examine the darkest and furthest corners of the territory. There she talked to arms and drugs dealers, hackers and hit men, exposing them to the law while uncovering their deepest secrets.

Eileen’s investigations have lead her to be the victim of hack attempts of her computer, even receiving death threats for her work. Nevertheless Eileen continued to expose these criminals leading her to take action in the court of law.

The Darkest Web exposes to the general public information that is only known to members of the underworld, allowing readers minds to be blown wide open.
