Equal parts historical and hysterical, all-heaving harmonies and tipsy candour, Brisbane Festival invites you on a sublime musical journey through the history of ‘mother’s ruin’, aka gin. Stumble and soar through tales of love and women, gin and secrets, as the cast wind their way through 18th Century London, colonial India, a few New York speakeasies and the jungles of Peru, via sailors and barmaids, bootleggers and master distillers. For one week only the Roundhouse Theatre will be transformed into a boozy, magical little gin joint featuring songs by Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Tom Waits, Martha Wainwright, The Popes, Sia, Jessie J, and more.
