Queensland Symphony Orchestra presents Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances at QPAC Concert Hall for the diverse winter program. Conducted by Stanley Dodds, the orchestra will bring the audience Schmidt’s Intermezzo originated from a neglected but once successful opera adapted from Victor Hugo’s Notre Dame de Paris, Barber’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Op.14 opens with Chad Hoopes’ violin singing a beguiling theme, and Rachmaninov’s final work Symphonic Dances, full of lush orchestration and rhythmical pizzazz.
