Construction is nearly complete at Brisbane’s newest live music venue, with the Fortitude Music Hall set to officially open with star acts Ball Park Music, DZ Deathrays and Tia Gostelow on Friday 26 July.
Brisbane’s melancholic pop masters Ball Park Music have become one of the cities most successful exports in the past few years, ruling the radio waves and selling out shows across the country. The talented band have released seven albums, with the past four landing in top ten of the ARIA Charts.
Ball Park Music will be joined by another one of the most recognisable rock acts to come from Brisbane, DZ Deathrays who will also be playing a full set on the opening night. From playing house parties to opening for the Foo Fighters in stadiums, DZ Deathrays have a natural knack to getting the party started and keeping it going where ever they play, making them a staple favourite at festivals and live venues across the globe.
Tia Gostelow, a new and exciting addition to the Brisbane music industry is set to open the night. 2019 is off to a successful start for the up and coming artist as her single ‘Strangers’ has clocked more than four million streams on Spotify, Gostelow won Album of the Year at the QLD Music Awards and is heading off on her first European tour.
While Ball Park Music, DZ Deathrays and Tia Gostelow will be providing majority of the nights entertainment, The Fortitude Music hall have invited a bunch of Brisbane music’s favourite sons and daughters to add their own iconic flavour to the official opening party. Powderfinger alumni Bernard Fanning and Ian Haug, Custard frontman Dave McCormack, The Grates frontwoman Patience Hodgson, singer-songwriter Thelma Plum, Busby Marou, Velociraptor frontman Jeremy Neale and singer-songwriter Sahara Beck will also be making special appearances throughout the night.
The Fortitude Music Hall is set to be a truly visionary entertainment precinct for the music industry in Brisbane. In time they will deliver additional food and beverage venues and a function space, creating an important centrepiece of their masterplan of maintaining Fortitude Valley’s position as a must-stop destination for local and international touring artists and an entertainment hub for locals.
