Brisbane’s newest Indie-pop duo JUNO’s debut single, Zero, will be released tomorrow, on 15 September.

Fresh-faced but certainly no strangers to the stage, JUNO is the irresistible musical match-up of Kahlia Ferguson and Sam Woods, who first met as members of indie-rock band Sunflower and decided to meld their complementary talents to create scintillating hook-filled soundscapes in the pop-a-sphere.

Inspired by a shared love of high-energy performers and the undeniable call of the dance floor, JUNO has officially arrived in a shiny, pep-filled cloud, making their presence known with debut single Zero.

In an explosion of indie-pop confetti, ‘Zero’ hooks you in instantly with zinging vocals and a tantalising guitar groove. Kahlia’s playful vocal tone zigs and zags, brimming with sass and endearing humour. With bouncing beats and big trumpets, the track remains bright and bubbly, layered with a chorus of chanting vocal melodies and intriguing synth-bursts. Like an extravagant shower of balloons let loose over a packed dance floor, ‘Zero’ is triumphant, flamboyant and a whole lotta fun.

Using writing and producing as therapeutic escapism, JUNO was able to create an exuberant, empowering bop in ‘Zero’ that was born out of frustration and fury at people spreading rumours. Kahlia stated that the song is a great blend of fun, sassy and empowering, embodying the kind of attitude JUNO wants to embrace moving forward.

Raring to step into the spotlight, JUNO is set to quickly make their mark on the Australian music scene, backed by a musical history spanning to Kahlia’s time performing in family band The Fergies, which performed with the likes of Powderfinger, The Cat Empire, The Jungle Giants, Missy Higgins and more.
