Saturday evening marked the exciting return of Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s dynamic Music Director, Alondra de la Parra, conducting the exhilarating Latin American Gala, celebrating the power and passion of Latin American music. In front of a packed Concert Hall, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra was joined by superstar guitarist, Yamandu Costa, performing his own Concerto Fronteira, a performance which saw the appreciative audience leap to their feet. Also joining the QSO for José Pablo Moncayo’s stirring piece Huapango were several musicians from Brisbane Girls Grammar School. After rapturous applause, the evening concluded with two encore pieces, Yamandu Costa’s El Negro Del Blanco and Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Márquez.
