Today is Loud Shirt Day, 22 October, and Hear and Say is encouraging you to pull out your big, bright and bold fits, as the Queensland not-for-profit fundraiser returns to help give the gift of sound to children born deaf.
With a 29-year history of supporting children with hearing loss across Queensland, Hear and Say is calling on the community to donate and wear their loudest shirts next Friday to raise awareness and vital funds for their world-class hearing technology and spoken language therapy.
Hear and Say Acting CEO, Bridget Murray says the not-for-profit is excited to splash some colour across the state and unite Queenslanders for a life-changing cause this Loud Shirt Day. “We are thrilled to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Loud Shirt Day and are encouraging businesses and individuals in our community to go big and bright, so Hear and Say can continue to provide our world-leading services now and into the future,” Ms Murray said.
“As a not-for-profit, we rely on the generosity of Queenslanders to help us ensure children with hearing loss are afforded access to our world-class hearing technology and spoken language therapy.” Early and effective interventions and technology can allow children born deaf or hard of hearing the ability to hear, listen and speak – and your donation helps Hear and Say ensure children with hearing loss reach their full potential.
“By ditching your daily wear for a loud shirt and raising funds, together we can open worlds and profoundly impact the lives of those living with hearing loss in our community,” Ms Murray added. A $50 donation helps Hear and Say fund a child to attend a play-based therapy group session, a $200 donation provides a hearing test and $500 supports a telepractice kids for Hear and Say’s rural families.
