A new immersive experience precinct is sailing into South Bank at the Queensland Maritime Museum for a limited season. The hit Japanese immersive magic show, Maho Magic Bar will take up residence alongside Darkfield’s acclaimed spine-tingling thrillers, Séance and Flight, creating a new destination for Brisbane’s adventure-seekers.
Maho Magic Bar jets audiences straight to a neon-lit ‘Tokyo’ night, with all the mischief, mayhem, cocktails and laughter they could wish for. Onlookers will disbelieve their eyes as the very best of Japan’s superstar sleight-of-hand specialists perform exclusive magic shows right in front of their table. Spectators will see these masters at work at point blank range, putting a wild contemporary spin on magic traditions that dates back to Japan’s Edo period.
Strange worlds unfold in Séance and Flight, two acclaimed multi-sensory experiences set inside custom-built shipping containers — and in complete darkness. Darkfield utilises its signature 360-degree audio, along with sensory effects and hyper-realistic sets, to challenge audience’s senses and leave them questioning reality. Séance is a 20-minute immersive experience that incorporates the concept of a traditional séance using clever sound technology and sensory deprivation.
Engulfed in the darkness, the power of suggestion preys on participants’ other senses making it difficult to distinguish between perception and reality. Flight is an unsettling journey in complete darkness inside a 40ft shipping container. Following its predecessor Flight employs Darkfield’s signature combination of pitch darkness and binaural audio, but expect a very different experience to Séance.
