After seven months of closure and a lot of hard work behind the scenes, Queensland Maritime Museum reopened at the weekend after its Covid-Safe plan was approved by Queensland Health.
Queensland Maritime Museum reopened on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September. Initially the museum will only open on weekends. It has also introduced online booking in order to manage the flow of visitors through the museum. Visitors can purchase tickets to timed sessions to ensure the museum maintains caps on visitor numbers and ensures social distancing protocols are adhered to.
Changes to the visitor experience are designed to protect visitors, staff and volunteers. The main ones are: check-in on arrival, follow set pathways through the museum, observe maximum capacity numbers in each space, maintain 1.5 metre social distancing, avoid touching any exhibits, ask our volunteers for help if you need it. They have also created a video for what to expect on site.
The museum is excited to welcome visitors back in time for the school holidays, and its managers appreciate public support as they open the hatches once again.
