Year 11 students, Daniel Jago and Cooper Williams, will soon be taking centre stage as part of the upcoming St Laurence’s College musical The Addams Family.

With both students stepping into the shoes of eccentric family patriarch Gomez Addams, audiences are in for a ghoulishly good time. Daniel and Cooper commenced their musical education at St Laurence’s College in Year 5 with Daniel learning the piano and guitar and Cooper choosing the trumpet.

Since then, the boys have amassed an impressive list of music achievements including Daniel being awarded Dux of Music in Year 9 and Cooper claiming the Dux of Music in Year 10. Devoted members of the school’s music ensembles, Big Band 1 and Concert Band 1, the boys are no strangers to live shows including taking part in recent performances at the Brisbane Jazz Club and as part of the Big Band tour to Port Macquarie. The students have dedicated many hours to ensure the success of the play, each rehearsing for up to seven hours a week.

Premiering in August, the musical comprises more than 90 cast members including students from four girls schools Mt St Michael’s College, Lourdes Hill College, Loreto College and Our Lady’s College. When asked of their experience working alongside the affiliated girl schools in the musical, Daniel said, “They’ve definitely set a really high standard.”
