Queensland Theatre hosted the world premiere season of David Williamson’s Nearer the Gods at the new Bille Brown Theatre on Thursday 11 October. The standout cast received two standing ovations from the capacity theatre, with invited guests including Hon Jacklyn Trad (Deputy Prime Minister, Treasurer and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships), Hon Leeanne Enoch (Minister for Environment and the Great Barrier Reef, Minister for Science and Minister for the Arts), Hon Dame Quentin Bryce and her husband Michael Bryce, esteemed Australian playwright David Williamson and past and present Queensland Theatre alumni.
