After 27 years in a small site on Boundary Street, Vinnies West End has moved to an expansive location on Montague Road. The resurgence of popularity of West End, the inner-city hub with eclectic charm, has also seen a spike in interest in op shops and vintage clothing.

Vinnies Brisbane Retail Operations Manager Renzo Salvetti says it is something Vinnies could not be happier with. “Vinnies West End is buzzing with excitement at the opportunity to ride the wave of popularity in second-hand fashion finds, but also keep supporting the Brisbane community needing affordable clothing, accessories and homewares.” He said the new site officially opens to the public on 1 June 2019 with an invite-only preview event for local business and staff on 31 May. “The profits from our 150 Vinnies shops across the state go directly to supporting the local community – some of whom are doing it really tough,” Salvetti said. “Without our shops, and the amazing volunteers who help run them, we would struggle to provide services such as financial support, disaster relief, food hampers, aged and disability care, youth work and much more to people in need.”

Salvetti said the shop at 381 Montague Road is on the lookout for community-minded people to volunteer some of their time.“Without our wonderful volunteers, the shops simply can’t stay open, that’s why we value our volunteers so much because they are vital to us being able to continue our good work in the community,” he said. “Volunteers gain new skills, meet new people and are able to give back to their community in a real and tangible way.”

Vinnies Brisbane region assisted more than 43,000 people in 2018 and have already helped more than 14,100 people so far this year.
