The Ole Group is bringing Italian Food to Australia with the debut of its newest restaurant, Nonna’s Pizza and Deli, on Grey Street at South Brisbane.

The name hopes to evoke memories for everyone who has had their Nonna cook for them, blending nostalgia with casual dining. The Ole Group has a large portfolio of venues serving International cuisines such as Ole RestaurantMucho Mexicano and Downtown Istanbul. Director of The Ole Group, Eddie Isik said that he believes Brisbane needs another dining experience to help patrons escape.

“If this pandemic has taught us anything it’s that the little things in life need to be enjoyed. Spending quality time with family and loved ones over good food and good wine should be prioritised, and that’s the experience that Nonna’s offers,” said Eddie Isik. “Despite things still being unsteady in 2021, it’s imperative that we do what we can to strengthen the hospitality industry again not just for local job seekers and the economy, but for people’s enjoyment as well.”

The Ole Group Executive Chef Craig Wright has curated the menu to blend classic Italian dishes with modern elements. Nonna’s Pizza and Deli focuses on using ingredients from local growers and producers. “The Napoli style wood-fired pizzas cooked using local Queensland Blackbutt Timber and hefty servings of homemade pasta, just like Nonna makes, are just some of the delicacies I expect to be the most requested dishes,” said Craig Wright.

The menu has a selection of pizzas with either a tomato base or a white pizza. Nonna’s Pizza and Deli has dishes such as the Moreton Bay Bug, bucatini, garlic, basil, chilli, and lemon; and, Nonna’s colossal Antipasto Board, suited for sharing. The Pizzeria and Deli have an a la carte lunch and dinner service as well as a full breakfast menu. At 4 pm, Bar Italia will begin serving drinks such as imported and Queensland beers, Mediterranean favourites such as Spritz and Negronis, and, speciality modern and old-school cocktails.

Nonna’s Pizza and Deli will open to the public tomorrow, 29 April, 2021. This eatery is open seven days a week between 7am to 12pm for those looking for a breakfast spot, 7am to 10pm Sunday to Thursday, and 7am to 11pm Friday and Saturday.
