Queensland Symphony Orchestra shone on Saturday night during the Maestro 3 concert, An Emotional Rollercoaster held at QPAC‘s Concert Hall. Starring world renowned pianist and QSO’s 2018 Artist in Residence, Sergio Tiempo, the evening was led by conductor Alexander Prior. The audience was treated to three wonderfully diverse pieces – Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of Faun, was a flute solo which lead to a piece full of non-western scales and slippery harmonies. The audience was then sharply awakened by Ginastera’s Piano Concerto No. 1, this complete firecracker took the audience on a voyage of extremes while being lead to the finale piece of Brahms’ Fourth Symphony of rich harmonies and soulful slow movement.
