The People’s Choice Awards for the QUBE Effect 2021 have opened for voting. The public can now vote on their favourite young artists for the QUBE Effect 2021 which celebrates Brisbane’s musicians, singers, songwriters, and bands.

Brisbane City Council has paired with emerging musicians to help develop their musical acts through an intensive development program. The program provides musicians with the opportunity to be mentored by music industry experts. Those who are in the program have created a music video, attended workshops, and been involved in promotional opportunities. Musical acts participated in a live performance on 10 April in the Valley Mall as a part of Brisbane Youth Week.

Those who have participated in the program have gone on to play at Queensland festivals such as Brisbane Festival’s Street Serenades, Valley Fiesta, and Splendour in the Grass. 21 artists have participated this year from across 21 locations with 21 polished music videos for the public to vote on for the People’s Choice Awards. BEMAC (Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre), District Studios, and Torn Parachute have worked together to foster the talents of these artists and have facilitated the ‘ The QUBE Effect program’.

The winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive a music video shoot and a photography package by Torn Parachute, a $1000 cash prize by District Studios, as well as industry networking, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. Whilst the People’s Choice Award is the major award, several other awards are handed out to the participants with separate prizes and money for each one.

The Innovation Award by Dew Process is the award for the song that shows the most originality, creativity, and interesting composition. The Best Overall Performance Award by the Tivoli offers the group or individual that wins, a support slot to play before a headline act at the Tivoli. The Lord Mayor’s Live Event Award by Brisbane City Council, grants the winner a paid performance opportunity at one of the Council’s major entertainment events.

Fans of the musicians should get voting for their favourite artist, as voting for the People’s Choice Award closes on 4 June 2021.
