Queensland Theatre has smashed records with its 2018 crowd, exceeding its 2017 audiences even before its final performance has closed.
Artistic Director Sam Strong made the announcement. “2017 set an all-time record for total attendance around Australia and a 10 year record for audiences in Brisbane,” said Sam. “That record was based on a nine show season that included the highest selling production in the history of the company, the return season of Ladies in Black. Beating the 2017 record is even more impressive when you realise that we have done it with an eight show season.”
Queensland Theatre also reported a 20-year high of subscribers, beating 2017’s record that made the Company one of the fastest growing in Australia. Nearer The Gods also become one of the highest selling new Australian plays in the 50-year history of the Company.
