Global Fiesta, the second instalment of the Regional Flavours 2021 event series, comes to Brisbane in October. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the event would celebrate Brisbane’s rich multicultural community.

“A trip to South Bank Parklands during the Regional Flavours’ Global Fiesta weekend offers people a taste of what they’re not able experience right now while international travel isn’t an option,” Schrinner said. “Regional Flavours attracts hundreds of locals because of its tantalising menu of roving entertainment, immersive performances and a colourful street party as well as talented local chefs serving up some of the best international cuisine and cooking demonstrations.

“The World Stage will be a crowd favourite, set to showcase live music and international instrumentals across the weekend, with renowned Brisbane Chefs Josh Lopez and Louis Tikaram as well as Latin Chef, Alejandra Utrera and Indigenous Australian Chef, Aunty Dale Chapman, taking to the stage.” There will also be a vibrant pop-up marketplace, showcasing cuisine and craft. Dario Manca, Head Chef at Rosmarino, will be demonstrating Italian cooking, following the recent launch of the highly anticipated Brisbane restaurant; Peter Kuruvita, restaurateur and media personality, will be showcasing his famed Sri Lankan-inspired cooking.

The Destination Stage, signifying global identities through song and dance, will kick off with a traditional Aboriginal cultural performance from Nunukul Yuggera, as well as Japanese drumming, New Orleans Jazz, and more. There will be a world of performances to discover, including traditional dance derived from Polynesia, China, and Bolivia as well as interactive Cuban dancing. The favoured festival Marketplace will take up residency across Little Stanley Street and the surrounding lawns, exploring six continents and their culinary offerings, craft, and condiments. A Spice Walk amid South Bank’s Epicurious Garden, hosted by chef talent and experienced horticulturists, educates on the abundance of herbs and spices found in the Parklands.

South Bank’s iconic River Quay affords a place to reside all day, at the Departure Lounge, featuring an electric mix of DJ sets across the weekend and premium bites, reminiscent of summer in the Mediterranean. Tickets to Global Fiesta are now on sale.
