In a dramatic bid to highlight the staggering food waste crisis gripping Australia, a massive 780kg pile equating to approximately $3000 of food was dumped on the lawn of Sydney’s Chiswick Restaurant recently.

The shocking visual aimed to drive home the urgent need for action as the nation grapples with the ongoing challenge of wasted food while so many Australians struggle to put meals on the table. Saveful CEO Kim McDonnell and COO Mike Chuter, alongside Australian chef and restaurateur Matt Moran, social impact innovators and entrepreneurs behind the Saveful app, took the stage today to celebrate the success of their initiative.

They thank and acknowledge the founding partners for their unwavering support, while also welcoming nine new partners to the Saveful family. Saveful, a free app designed to make mealtimes less stressful and more sustainable, offers personalised content tailored to individual household needs.

The app provides flexible meal frameworks, helpful tools, tips, and hacks while allowing users to track their food waste and savings in real-time. The fruit and vegetables showcased were generously supplied by OzHarvest and Good & Fugly. All of which will be repurposed by OzHarvest to distribute to Australian families facing food insecurity.

With the cost-of-living crisis impacting 80% of Australian families, many are feeling the pinch and looking for ways to save. As the festive season fast approaches, financial stress is heightened, with many families struggling to make ends meet. To address this, Saveful is proud to announce the launch of Saveful September.

The month-long campaign aimed to empower and enable Australian families to save money, save food and save time. By demonstrating simple ways to save food, families can maintain their health and lifestyle while helping to ease financial burdens.
