The life of a university student has changed forever after winning a Villa World house and land package valued at $450,000. Riqui Vines, a 22-year old Griffith University student studying environmental science was handed the keys to a house and land package by Villa World’s CEO Craig Treasure as part of the developer’s Live for Free promotion at Killara, Logan Reserve.
Vines and her partner Jonathon Marsh will now become part of Villa World’s ever-growing list of new community members. The company has three major projects in the Logan region with a total investment of more than $1 billion. The couple, who are currently renting and living in Mansfield, won a four-bedroom house and land package with the choice of living at Villa World’s Covella at Greenbank or Killara at Logan Reserve.
Vines said she never believed she would ever own her own home as a full-time student with university fees. “Winning this home means everything to me, I just never imagined myself owning a house because it’s hard to save money while you’re at university. This is such an incredible opportunity – my life is starting now. I graduate in a couple of weeks and I’ll have a house in a couple of months,” said Vines. “I’m honestly lost for words and it hasn’t quite sunk in what a difference this will make to our lives.”
Villa World’s CEO Craig Treasure said the competition is part of Villa World’s ongoing commitment to helping people realise their dream of owning their own home. “We are absolutely delighted to be a part of the journey of this young couple who now are well and truly set up for their future. It’s been a great campaign which was well received by the public and we couldn’t be happier for Riqui and her partner.” said Treasure “We look forward to welcoming them to the community and continuing to work with the wider community in delivering homes and helping people to realise their home ownership dreams.”
The event, which was broadcast live on Hit 105FM, attracted a crowd of hundreds and 26,000 entries which were narrowed down to five finalists. Each tried their hand at unlocking a lucky door with a key chosen at random. The Live for Free competition strengthens Villa World’s long-term commitment to Logan, where it is creating a combined total of more than 2200 land lots at Killara and Covella.
