The New Line Cinema drama The Good Liar pairs Oscar winner Helen Mirren and two-time Oscar nominee Ian McKellen on the big screen for the first time.

Filmed on location in London and Berlin, the film follows the story of career con artist Roy Courtnay (McKellen), who can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online.  As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.  The Good Liar also stars Russell Tovey  and Jim Carter. Bill Condon, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Gods and Monsters, directed and produced the film from a screenplay by Jeffrey Hatcher (Mr. Holmes), based on the widely acclaimed novel by Nicholas Searle.

Greg Yolen also served as producer, alongside Condon.  The executive producers were Richard Brener, Andrea Johnston, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, Anjay Nagpal, Jack Morrissey, and Nick O’Hagan. The creative filmmaking team included director of photography Tobias Schliessler, production designer and BAFTA nominee John Stevenson, editor Virginia Katz, and costume designer Keith Madden.  The music is composed by two-time Oscar nominee Carter Burwell .
