The highly anticipated The Lion King premiered on the 16 July at Event Cinemas Myer Brisbane. Jon Favreau’s hyper-realistic remake of Walt Disney’s original broke the record for biggest opening weekend in the month of July. It has been less than a week, and the movie has already been dubbed the seventh biggest movie to have come out this year. The opening night at Event cinemas reflected just that, as eager audiences flooded the theatre.
