 When the lunch time pangs hit, The Stores Grocer in West End has an abundance of offerings to tempt all taste buds, and, even more tempting, for the month of March, mention you have read this feature to receive a complimentary Fonzie Abbott coffee with any lunch or cake purchase.

The kitchen team, headed by the very talented Milanese chef Jacopo Corbetta and pâtissier Daryl Willmott, have a broad and sometimes slightly European take on their freshly made ready-to-go lunch meals and their delicate, soulful cakes and pastries to eat in The Store’s air-conditioned café space, the garden courtyard or take back to work or home.

The Stores Grocer are serious about provenance and offer the finest cuts of fresh, cured and aged meat, a range of more than 100 cheeses, ethically sourced seafood, a tremendous range of local and imported charcuterie, a delicatessen range to be excited about and the freshest, quality fruit and veg around. That carefully designed space and their displays make browsing a breeze, and there’s a team of knowledgeable grocers to help you find the right lunch for you.

Parking is easy too – off Raven Street in the large car parking space or off Montague Road.

A kitchen for every occasion

“I see The Stores as somewhere that rises above the ordinary in both food and shopping experience,” says Jacopo. “We produce higher-quality, healthier meals with flavour you won’t find in a supermarket. We are constantly building our repertoire, whether it’s the latest on-trend dish, comforting homely meals, for our catering menu or simply by sourcing the best ingredients.”

For those who like an Italian fix, there are club sandwiches – prosciutto and rocket on crescenza or porchetta and eggplant ciabatta or arancini with king prawn and mozzarella or beef lasagne; for French – smoked salmon brioche buns or croque monsieur or a classic croissant with Byron Bay ham and brie; for lovers of New York, there is a classic Reuben; for Greek, spanakopita or tabbouleh; for a broader Mediterranean fix, there is Iranian kuku, and for Aussies, there is a plethora of pies, sausage rolls, roast chicken, fritters, salads and much more. Be prepared for unique daily specials too. Sweet tooths, gluten free, vegetarians and vegans have not been forgotten!
