TradeMutt is a new social enterprise work wear brand co-founded by Dan Allen and Edward Ross supporting mental health and suicide prevention, founded in 2016 after a close friend of Dan’s took his own life.

Five per cent of all TradeMutt profits are donated to mental health and suicide prevention programs with the bold shirt designs meaning to encourage a conversation between “tradie” mates about mental health issues. The brand has three bright colours to choose from titled The FAF, The Coight and The Mr Feel Good. Each right pocket of the shirts have the initials YNWA, as a tribute to Dan’s friend and a reminder to anyone wearing the shirts that “you’ll never walk alone”. TradeMutt hopes that this will encourage the much needed cultural shift in Australian male culture to seek out and discuss any mental health.

Male mental health issues are a difficult topic to discuss. TradeMutt aims for the signature colourful, loud and vibrant shirts to act as a catalyst to starting the conversation around mental health in men, a topic that has previously been too challenging and difficult to discuss openly. In the past, men admitting to having mental difficulties have generally been perceived as a weakness. TradeMutt’s goal is to shine a spot light on the toll mental health is taking in Australian men and providing a platform to start a conversation and provide support to those who are suffering and in doing so, reduce the rate of male suicide in Australia
