Sekisui House‘s new model Village Retail has launched in West End on Tuesday 28 August, with the renowned demographer Bernard Salt on hand to help launch the concept and provide commentary in the $1 billion West Village precinct.

Described as an evolution in neighbourhood shopping centres, Village Retail is on the frontlines of a global trend in shopping experiences, reflecting a global “Goldilocks” trend where a mix of high-density living, a knowledge economy, lifestyle expectations and inner-urban accessibility are offered.

Village Retail balances culture, education, lifestyle and convenience amenity. It will include three new parkside restaurants which will be having displays and food at the launch, a cooking school, a new 1500 square metre park, a children’s farm garden, an art gallery and communal event spaces in 2018. Village Retail will add full-line Woolworths supermarket, a fresh food market, gym, childcare, medical centre as well as another 20 food and beverage outlets in 2020.

West Village is a new global neighbourhood drawing inspiration from the world’s most engaging precincts yet intrinsically connected to West End’s one of a kind culture, reimaging urban living. Inspired by the character and history of West End, West Village reimagines urban living. Contemporary apartments are thoughtfully placed and green spaces blur into a relaxed urban culture. Vibrant pedestrian and retail laneways will provide connectivity through West Village and to surrounding streets. A diverse mix of retailers will make West Village a true marketplace. Restoration of the 1920s Peters Ice Cream factory heritage buildings is at the heart of the project, giving a significant part of history back to the West End and Brisbane communities.
