Some of Queensland’s brightest writers and figures joined Brisbane Writers Festival chair Fiona Taylor and artistic director Zoe Pollock to officially launch the 2019 program on 20 June. This year’s festival will welcome over 160 internationally renowned and writers, thinkers and opinion makers as they descend on the river city for the 4-day celebration of reading and writing. The evening also featured inspiring and thought-provoking speeches from Uncle Des Sandy and acclaimed local author John Birmingham (He Died with a Felafel in His Hand), who is also part of the 2019 Festival program.
