Queensland Children’s Hospital celebrated five years of caring for Queensland kids with a costume party on Friday November 29.

The date marks the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Queensland Children’s Hospital, which opened on November 29 2014 and has since, over the five years, cared for more than 250,000 children and young people.  Hospital staff, patients and families marked the milestone with the hospital’s annual ‘Dress Up Day’ event, with the fitting theme of ‘Kid’s 5th Brithday Party’.  The entire hospital was transformed into a giant party zone for the event, with birthday parties, decorations and costumes on every level of the hospital.  Party themes included dinosaurs, pirates, princesses and princes, circus, rainbows and unicorns, cowgirls and cowboys, The Wiggles, and fairies and superheros.

With more than 250,000 children treated, more than 344,000 presentations to the emergency department, and the busy hospital specialist outpatient teams providing more than one million appointments over the past five years, the celebration continued over a week, with birthday party activities for the children, families and staff.
