State Of Origin: The Musical! opened on Friday November 29 to a full house of VIPs, theatre lovers, and rugby league legends at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre. Guests included journalist Kerry O’Brien, former Lord Mayor Sallyanne Atkinson, musical theatre royalty Simon Gallagher, arts luminary Stefan Greder, songman Troy Brady, former league great Edmond Scott, former MP Scott Emerson, Dr Tom Biggs, Amanda Talbot, Alan Jones and Jake Thrupp. Written by Hugh Lunn and Gerry Connolly and directed by Jan Black, the sneak preview, performed to a sold-out theatre over three days, is a mere warm-up to the major work which will be premiered in 2020 to coincide with Origin’s 40th anniversary.
