The Greek Club is celebrating the milestone of longstanding team member and Operations Manager David Talbot who began as a waiter in 2000 after moving to Brisbane from New Zealand, and securing the job with the help of the family he lived with who are of Greek origin.

Twenty years on, David now refers to this household as his adopted family attributing his love for Greek culture and cuisine to their generosity in sharing the passion of their heritage with him. Starting out waiting tables, David has contributed to multiple sectors of The Greek Club across his career including in bar, functions and supervisor roles prior to securing his current position looking after the operations of the Club.

As the years have gone by, David’s favourite part of his role is the connections he forges with customers, believing it’s the community and people he works with that makes his job so special. Over two decades David has been part of the growth and modernisation of the Club, experiencing the implementation of technology, numerous menu adaptions and the more recent renovations such as the new terrace balcony. However, he says the love of family, hospitality and culture has always stayed the same.

Always one to share his recommendations, currently David’s favourite menu item at Nostimo is the Lamb Skaras (an all-time classic) paired with the AXIA, Alpha Estate 2018, Malagousia from the Florina wine region. Throughout his 20-year career, David has had a hand in sharing Greek traditions with the Brisbane community, helping to forge our city’s tight-knit Hellenic community along the way.

West Enders are likely already familiar with David’s friendly face but if not, be sure to say hi next time you pop by to experience his warm hospitality and Brisbane’s best Greek dining experience.
