Bolshoi Ballet’s stunning production Jewels opened on Saturday 29 June at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). George Balanchine’s choreography thrilled audiences across the three acts – Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds, receiving a standing ovation and extended applause at the final curtain call. Invited guests walked the red carpet and were received under the stars in a stunning transparent marquee decorated with red lanterns and glowing gold lights. Deputy Premier the Hon. Jackie Trad MP and QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas spoke at the pre-function. Mr Kotzas was joined by Bolshoi Ballet Director Makhar Vaziev in speaking at the post-function. A delicious selection of Russian inspired canapes and hot dishes were served. Guests also enjoyed a selection of beverages including Moët and Chandon, thanks to QPAC International Series Champagne Partner Moët Hennessy. Entertainment was by DJ Black Amex. The Jewels opening followed the official opening night of Spartacus on Thursday 27 June, the two ballets are presented for the 2019 QPAC International Series.
