West End not-for-profit gallery Outer Space is encouraging the public to preview its new premises and bid on artworks by Australian artists on Friday 9 March. All funds raised will help to open the doors of Outer Space’s three gallery spaces, six art studios and community space.

Established and early career artists have donated their work to be sold to the highest bidder on the night, including Robert Andrew, Jordan Azcune, James Barth, Karen Black, Sam Cranstoun, Mitch Donaldson, Julie Fragar, and Bridie Gillman.

The event will include a raffle prize draw from local businesses and galleries.

Bidders and non-bidders are welcome to view the artwork, enjoy refreshments and see Outer Space’s new home head of its transformation.

Outer Space co-director Caity Reynolds spoke of the value of this space in Brisbane’s inner city.

“Brisbane has needed a space like this for sometime, and we’re so excited to be able to do this for the whole community,” Reynolds said.

“Outer space would not be able to exist without the support of the local art community.

“We’re so excited to have a variety of works from established and emerging artists to be auctioned on the night.”

Outer Space co-director Llewellyn Millhouse said the auction is a wonderful way to support the emerging art scene.

“Outer Space has been very lucky to receive support from the Brisbane City Council to secure the unique warehouse premises in West End,” Millhouse said.

“The funds raised from the auction will ensure that we are able to make our exhibition, residency, music and community programs the best they can be.”
