Iconic Southbank pub The Plough Inn (since 1864) is going pink in a big way this week for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Kicking off its first ever pink campaign on Friday, 25th October through to Thursday, 31st October, the building externals are set to light up pink every evening for seven days to help create awareness and fundraise for the McGrath Foundation.
A specialist team of lighting experts have been engaged to construct a marvelous glowing pink venue. Beyond the bricks and mortar, whatever can go pink, will go pink! Plough Inn staff will be decked out in pink shirts and guests will be provided with pink napkins and pink straws. Also, $1 from every pink item sold will be donated to the charity.
Plough Inn head chef Shawn Breen has created special pink items for the cause. Supporters can dine on special pink menu items including three types of Pink Bun Burgers (Angus beef, karaage chicken & vegetarian options), a main of Pink Salmon – crispy skin salmon finished off with a pink sauce (red wine & thyme hollandaise), as well as a pink dessert – white chocolate and raspberry mousse, pink chocolate dipped strawberries with a pink peach cream and chambord foam.
Pink drinks are also included with Blossom rose cider, Pink Pirate Life sour beer, Passion Ink cocktail and a French martini available during the campaign. Guests can also donate directly to McGrath Foundation via the official McGrath Foundation collection boxes within the venue. Open Arms Hospitality Director Craig Shearer says “We have a great affiliation with sports in Brisbane, especially cricket and we’re always looking for ways we can help support those with a history in the sporting industry and ways to be charitable and help others. Many of our staff and friends have each been affected in some way by breast cancer and we wanted to be able to help give back and we’re proud to have McGrath Foundation on board as our official beneficiary”.
