Three curtain calls – this is how a capacity QPAC Concert Hall greeted Queensland Symphony Orchestra and guest harp soloist Marie-Pierre Langlamet (direct from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) for their incredible Maestro Concert – Romeo & Juliet – on Saturday 16 March. Under the baton of dynamic conductor Diego Matheuz, the Orchestra was truly one, performing with emotion and precision opening with Rossini William Tell Overture, then featuring Ginastera’s Concerto for Harp and Orchestra where the sublime talent of Langlamet was celebrated, and the finale was Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite, one of the most famous of all time. The Orchestra, Maestro Matheuz  and Langlamet received a standing ovation, with three curtain calls. The encore was Prokofiev’s Harp Prelude. Tragedy truly never sounded so beautiful.
