West End’s favourite holistic fitness haven, SoBa, has relocated to a fresh new space in West End on 359 Montague Road.

Members can expect the same diverse range of classes by expert instructors including Barre, Pilates, Yoga, HIIT, Stretch and Meditation in a spacious and air-conditioned new studio. The space includes neutral toned flooring and walls with several windows throughout the studio that looks out to the surroundings of the nature and neighbouring businesses.

On the 17 October SoBa held an event, New Moon New Intentions, welcoming its members to the new space with a hatha yoga class with Leanne Gerich and following with a new moon ritual hosted by astrologer Kristy Gray.

Hatha yoga involves several poses but it also includes the correct breathing techniques to convey when completing the poses. In the hatha yoga class led by Leanne Gerich she started off with some simple and easier poses and then gradually moved towards the more complicated poses. Whilst completing any form of yoga Leanne Gerich said “each pose takes time, so please be patient with yourself” because yoga is not a movement you can rush and most importantly “Yoga is not about performing, it is about feeling” as Leanne puts it.

After the yoga class was completed astrologer, Kristy Gray, completed a New Moon Ritual with the members. This consisted of explaining that your feelings are directly related to what is happening with the planets and the beginning of a new moon. Kristy also talked about how important it is to put your needs first. Kristy Gray said in the final minutes of the class that “Don’t focus on what you want, focus on who you want to be”.

The new location of SoBa’s studio gives the members more space when they are participating in a class which is also in agreeance with social distancing for COVID-19. This space promotes relaxation and the feeling of giving yourself a fresh start in a fresh socially distanced class.
