There is plenty of excitement at West Village over the school holidays, including free Creative Kids crafts, Bee One Third workshops and Opera Queensland interactive experiences.

Following on from West Village’s month-long online Village Bees celebration in May, which featured an un-bee-lievable selection of free online activities to honour World Bee Day, the team has just revealed another exciting attraction. Hive Mind by Dead Puppet Society will be on display in the beautiful surrounds of The Common at West Village from Saturday, 27 June through to Sunday, 26 July.

Paying homage to the bees on West Village’s rooftop, the installation features enormous kinetic, biometric honey bees taking flight over The Common at West Village. Plus, Bee One Third will be running education workshops where little ones can learn about bees, honey production and how to make beeswax candles.

Limited spots are also available for Opera Queensland’s Hansel and Gretel interactive experience from Monday July 6. Loved by hundreds and thousands of people the world over, Hansel and Gretel is one of the most popular operas ever written.

Opera Queensland and shake & stir theatre co present this Humperdinck classic, reimagined especially for primary students in the 21st Century. Hansel and Gretel are on a journey into the forest. They are searching for food for the family table but what they discover is far more appealing … do they dare taste the sweet façade of the gingerbread house? The session includes a short film and live actors who will experiment with drama and acting activities through play.

As usual Creative Kids is running between 9am and 11am on weekdays and 9am and 12pm on weekends. Kids can enjoy free craft workshops while Mum and Dad indulge in a coffee from one of the Garden Pantry retailers.

Book an activity today, spots are limited.
