Be serenaded at sunset in The Common at West Village with an intimate glimpse of favourite songs from stunning Opera Queensland soprano Rebecca Cassidy, while enjoying fine cheese and wine. Songs at Sunset promises to be an event that will delight the seasoned opera-goer while welcoming newcomers to this magical art form.
Reflecting on her musical career so far, Rebecca will introduce us to her favourite operas and dream roles, with passionate arias paired with popular melodies floating through the surrounds of The Common at twilight. The performances will take place on Friday 9 October and Saturday 10 October at The Common, West Village (97 Boundary Street, West End) with 5.30pm arrival for the performance to begin at 6pm.
Tickets are $120 per table and include foiur tickets (cabaret style seating) with individual cheese grazing platters by Say Cheese and a bottle of Wine or Sparkling for the table. Finishing off the evening with some sweet canapés.
Celebrating her past year as Opera Queensland’s 2020 Young Artist, and in partnership with acclaimed operatic pianist, Opera Queensland’s Narelle French, Rebecca has created an enchanting hour featuring insights into her life as a performer interspersed with dramatic and soaring soprano melodies of Strauss, Puccini and Bizet, ever-popular tunes such as “The last rose of summer” and “Shall we gather at the river”, bubbly Viennese operetta side-by-side with Gilbert and Sullivan, together with the poignant phrases of Rachmaninov’s Vocalise and Handel’s “Lascia ch’io pianga”.
